One time Mom and I were in a thrift store in Boone and I found a brass tray with a bamboo gallery that I loved. I carried it around the store planning to purchase it and at the last minute decided to put it back. I have regretted that decision every since then. It didn't help that Eddie Ross blogged about the lovely brass tray that he found shortly after the one I let get away.
Fortunately we were able to find another one. Actually two; a big tray and a small tray.
Dirty Martini anyone?
The little tray is in our kitchen holding hand-soap and lotion, but I think it would be pretty in a bathroom filled with colorful nail polish or other toiletries.
The best way to clean brass is with Bar Keeper's friend, found in the cleaning aisle near the Comet, etc. Apply a little elbow grease and brass cleans up like a charm.

These trays are really unique I can see why you were reluctant to paint them. I love the martini set. When are you serving drinks?

Well, that's the GOOD kind of brass. There is ugly brass. ;) Those trays are fab!
ReplyDeleteTraci, it's always noon somewhere...
ReplyDeleteI might have to rethink brass after seeing your trays. Love the lotion and soap tray; a nice way to make the ordinary special!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful trays! I love the detailing! They look perfect!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend! Lisa
I find that Tarnex cleans ALL metals of tarnish with NO elbow grease whatsoever ! Just pour it over your piece or dip your piece in it and it is like MAGIC ! AMAZING !!!! You will be stunned ! I sound like a commercial but it's true. ;o) I love the stuff !
ReplyDeleteI love those trays. I found a gorgeous hammered brass tray that has graced my dining room wall for over 35 years! Enjoy!

I'm not a fan of brass either, but your trays look wonderful - not that, well, brassy look ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! You know, I do have an ulterior motive - posting the kits for free. As the collection builds, they will eventually be available for sale. Right now I'm just testing the waters.
I'm a firm believer that anyone can paint & it's so meditative & relaxing for me, I want to share that w/others.
You really found some brass treasures.
ReplyDeleteI love these trays! You obviously have a very good eye.
ReplyDeleteLovely...simply lovely! Looking forward to catching up on your blog!

Never been a fan of brass but I do love your trays! Be blessed. Cindy
ReplyDeleteLove that you used one by the sink! Very cute! Sometimes I pass up things only to kick myself later for not getting it! Live and learn! LOL
