A couple of weeks ago, I tweeted that my front door is finally blue and a post would be coming soon. Why did it take me so long to post this? I don't know, but here it is. If you recall, I have been obsessed with blue front doors for some time now.
Once I painted the door, the hardware became more noticeable. The handle set, mail slot, and light fixture were ORB, but the door knocker was brass. I'm not usually one to paint brass, but this time I did. Rick and I purchased the knocker a long time ago on ebay from someone in England. I don't think it was anything fine, because the finish was beginning to show signs of wear. So I pulled out my can of orb and there you are.
The door is now my favorite color and I can't get enough. Stratton blue is on the same color strip as the BM wythe blue that I used in the kitchen only a shade darker. Love.

This looks amazing! Great color.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so very inviting.
ReplyDeleteI really love that shade of blue too. I could really see some delphiniums that match that color in a planter by it! Come and visit sometime, I really enjoy your blog.

Love your blue door! Also love the watercolor/sketch of your house. I like to sketch houses and have some on the sidebar of my blog. Did you do your own? It is very nice!
ReplyDeleteRene, I love your front door color. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteRene, gorgeous! I can see why you're in love with the color!
ReplyDeleteI love the new door color....it kind of makes the whole front of your house. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the color, so fresh and it makes everything 'pop'. I am attempting at some point this summer to paint my doors a light green. I need to cover my bold red and soften my house a bit. Not sure when that will happen but hopefully soon. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteOK: LOVE IT! I have seen a new trend in blue doors but it is the powder blue color... I really like yours because it has a different tint. And I think when I first became a follower of your blog you had a post about blue doors. Wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your guest blog on Low Tide High Style, I noticed the door was blue and wondered when you had done it. It looks great!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the color of your front door!! I'm thinking of the same color I love it so much. Is there any way to get a wider shot of the door so we can see the full color scheme of your house? I'm interested to see how it all ties together.
ReplyDeleteIt looks divine, really! Every time I see a door painted in a happy color I wish my house could take such a color on its front door! Will Pve now need to redo the image of your house?! Enjoy!
