It's a little late in the day to be posting, but I wanted to share the green room with you as promised.
I was especially pleased with the way this room turned out. Mostly because I am partial to green, especially green with blue. By the way, I think the color was grass green - Ralph Lauren, picked out my son years ago.
Before, everything was dark, the furniture and the floors. I really love the contrast now.
(To read about the chest, go here.)
I recently covered this old chair that I found at a yard sale for $1 with a navy and white ticking stripe. I love to use utilitarian fabrics in "boy" spaces.
As I have said before, enjoy your home now by making the most of what you have. Instead of refinishing the old floors, we painted them, saving hundreds of dollars and I'm so glad that I did it. The boys love their new rooms.
Thanks to all of you who have been following this project. Hopefully it didn't drag on to long....

I love it! It just sets off those walls to have white floors. I am also a huge fan of blue and white ticking. I use to have this navy and white ticking sofa I purchased at a garage sale for $60, and I made pillows to match.

Rene, it looks so good. I love green and white. Our bedroom was green and white for thirteen years. I loved it, but was ready for a change. I love that bed and the ticking covered chair.
ReplyDeleteThis contrast in the room is just so beautiful. I love it. Thanks for going ahead of some of us and jumping into this project and sharing it.

ReplyDeleteSO CUTE Rene! Love the kelly green with the white floors. And the touches of blue are lovely. It's the perfect kind of gender neutral decorating.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Great job! Did you see the painted kitchen floor recently posted on High Heeled Foot in the Door? Saw it this morning and then Layla of The Lettered Cottage posted about it on FB a little while ago.
ReplyDeleteit is a great looking room, the furniture really looks amazing with the white floors
ReplyDeleteThe green room is great Rene, but I am so in love with the blue room. Hope your boys love their rooms...how old are they? I have 4 boys, all grown and gone.
ReplyDeleteLooks SO good! I am inspired. My sister might come down this weekend to help me move the furniture! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI talked with my hubby and showed him your pics of the bedrooms and he agreed that we can paint our front entry way. So excited. I put up a post about you and your blog on my blog today. You truly inspired me. Thanks for sharing so much info about painting the floors. It is going to make it so much easier for when I am ready to do it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, love how the floors came out in the green room too.
your friend in bloggie world,
Jessica
WOW! I love it! Especially with the green wall color. Y'all did a great job Rene!

Very nice Rene! Love the colors. Again, I like the contrast of the dark wood. You are either very brave or your son is immaculate! There is no way I would put white bed linens in my youngest son's room!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job, the room looks great.

It didn't drag on at all...it has been exciting to see the transformation! It is amazing how the green pops with the blue accents, so nice...and oh, so clean! I do love the skim board in the corner, such a boy thing.

It looks like a completely different room! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI missed this post! I usually read blogs in the morning and have been finding I miss items posted later in the day. The room and the floor look great, I think you are so smart for working with what you have and doing what makes you happy. I think sometimes people are afraid to paint woodwork, floors, cabinets for fear of whether or not it is the "right" thing to do and live with something they would rather change for years! This approach is much better, I think. The rooms look so fresh, great job! Janell
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you said it perfectly Janell. I admit that sometimes it feels risky, but often it comes with great rewards.

Love your green. I have been planning something in this family for an upstairs bath. I love that this is a color we haven't seen everywhere. So fresh and lively and well you know me. I just love color. :)
ReplyDeletePam @ BeColorful
Hi Rene! I just adore your white floor! How utterly daring! :) But it really opens up the room! I dare bet that no shoes are allowed in there? lol!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Happy Met Monday!

I subscribe to your post already but I am visiting via BNOTP. You are the thumbnail before or behind me. :)
ReplyDeleteI had already seen this post and loved the green you chose for the walls but this time I noticed the 4th and 5th on the dresser. Now that is great design.:)
Pam
