To freshen the dining table, remove the full sized table cloth and replace it with a table runner that coordinates with your new rug or chair patterns. Every room should have about three different pattern fabrics a solid (easy), a geometric (circles, stripes etc…) and an organic pattern (leaves, flowers, etc..). Introducing pattern in pillows, drapes, carpeting or even throws is inexpensive and safe. You've done a great job on solids and organic patterns - consider adding a geometric that can give the room a more modern look.
Add a display of crystal candlesticks for glitter and reflection and to build on the beauty of your chandelier.
The recommendations were as I would have expected: the room needs texture, contrast, and pattern through window treatments, upholstery for the dining chairs, and rugs. I did start small by adding the candlesticks to the center of the dining table and liked the result. Now for the winning lottery ticket....
So have you taken the quiz? What's your style?

I have done a different site. I will have to try this one. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!! Mine is romantic. I guess I wouldn't have guessed that for my house but I can go with it!! Thanks for sharing this, I will have to take a better look at all the options when I get some more time.
ReplyDeleteI did once on HGTV, it was asia something or other! I have found that the issue with style "labels" is that they mean something very different to each person.
ReplyDeleteRene -- Thanks for visiting Shes.No.Martha and commenting on my dresser!
ReplyDeleteI am having a look around Cottage and Vine today and am going to go take that quiz. I think I could upload about 18989898 pictures to that site but not sure I have enough thick skin to take on the potential insults! ;-)

Very true Janell. Could you imagine choosing one style and that's it? I would imagine that most of us are a combination of lots influences. It's a "just for fun" thing.

Interesting. I did take the quiz and mine said equally rustic and traditional. I guess that isn't what I thought I had going on. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHmm, very interesting! Did you know I'm addicted to personality quizzes like this? I'm going right now to take it. I wonder who the designers are who give recommendations based on photos you upload. If that's a legit job, I would love it!
ReplyDeletetrue to form! i'm coastal, country, modern, and rustic. i'm so curious what they would do for a room of mine, i'm going to do the quick fix too.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never done this before but now I am interested. I'm going to have to go over and do this now- thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you came back to share Casey. Let me know about the quick fix (and job application, lol)
ReplyDelete-Rene
I think I shall do just that!

Very cool! I just did it and I got equal parts modern and rustic, with almost as much Asian. I don't know how they pegged me so well from those random photos, but it's spot on.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I have taken a similar quiz and it was pretty accurate, but there was only one picture that i LOVED with my whole heart, so they went with that.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel about knowing what you would *ideally* put in your home, and working with what you've got.
THANKS FOR VISITING MY BLOG YESTERDAY! :-)
Interesting... My results were high on Romantic (0.4) and then equal parts Asian, Coastal and Rustic (all 0.2). I would have thought I was higher on coastal. Like you, I did not care for some of the choices they gave us. When I have more time, I would like to try the quick fix.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting us at My Design Guide.com Rene, I remember your dining room and it was very pretty to start with. Our designer Becky had a few ideas that will just take it from good to great - as you said, do them a little at a time. We are so glad your readers came to visit.
ReplyDeletejust bought the "organic" part of the trio for my dining room yesterday...hopefully it works out. and I KNOW that yours will be pretty too! --Gretchen O.
ReplyDeleteLove that first picture! That is kind of cool that you can upload photos and they give you feedback - god knows I definitely need it!! I'm off to take the quiz!
ReplyDeleteI'm the full spectrum - asian/country/modern/traditional! No wonder I can never make up my mind!
