Susan G. Komen Update

I just wanted to share an update about the walk that I am participating in this October to benefit Susan G. Komen.  Last night we hosted a fund raiser at a local restaurant and invited friends and their families to come and dine with a percentage of the sales going toward our team goal.  Don't you love the pink wig?  Our fearless leader showed up last night wearing it and was all the rage.
We had lots of fun seeing friends there supporting this great cause.  The children received tattoos.  There were raffle drawings and door prizes.

Most of my teammates have reached their goal.  I am only 1/4 of the way there.  While it is very difficult to ask people for help, seriously, it is possibly my greatest weakness, I cannot do this without help.  If you have donated, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

My teammates have all been touched in some way by breast cancer.  Some have lost loved ones.  One has recently been through 3 surgeries and chemotherapy.  My reason for walking is to represent those whose lives have been changed by the disease.

    I am walking for:

    Gloria
    Marion
    Jan
    Mamie
    Jane
    Kathleen
    Arin
    Kristen
    Jenny

Is there someone that you would like to add to the list?  Email me at cottageandvine@triad.rr.com.  If you would like to make a donation, go here.

    1. This is such a great thing you are doing! One of my oldest friends is a breast cancer survivor so I can very much relate to this! And like you, I am horrible about asking for help! I hope you make your goal!

    4. Michelle, I would love that. Certainly don't want to cross my boundary with this, and scare people away.

      Thanks for offering to help.

    5. How wonderful :) My grandmother and my mother are both breast cancer survivors. We always do Relay for Life and I always get so emotional...thanks for helping raise money to find a cure!

    6. i am so happy for you and your pals. and so inspired. my grandmother had breast cancer and did not survive, and 2 friends from high school lost their moms while we were seniors. it just should not be like that. when i got married i just thought about those girls who wouldn't have their mothers with them when they got married. no girl should be without her mom on her wedding day.
