Ever since Mom found a beautiful set of twin beds for the mountain house, we have been on the hunt for just the right piece to go in between them.  The room has a window in between the beds, so a chest of drawers would be perfect as long as it is low enough.  A small chest of drawers would also serve as useful storage.   One day while shopping the antique stores, we found a cute little bamboo trimmed chest that had been painted turquoise.  I almost cried - it was adorable.  Then we opened one drawer and could never close it again.  Phooey.  Mom and I both agree that it pays to wait for the right thing to come along rather than settling for something that we don't love.  A hard lesson, but one that pays off in the end.  I'm sure the right thing will come along in time.

  1. I love a larger single piece placed between two twin beds, good luck on your hunt! You have showcased a FABULOUS collection of rooms with twin beds, makes me want to go design one right now. :)

  2. Rene,
Love your photo's! I especially love the photo's that contain simple clean lines. Beautiful!
My dad makes furniture and he taught me this little trick a few years ago. If you take johnson paste wax and rub it on the top edges of the drawer it will prevent it from sticking. It worked with two older dressers, that we couldn't get the drawers closed.
Take care and happy hunting!! Can't wait to see what you find :)

  15. I'm so happy to see beautiful rooms that use twin beds. My grandkids came in sets of two, girl and boy, so no matter what the ages that may visit I need two beds and only have one guest room. Hence twin beds. Great ideas.

  21. You have posted so many beautiful beds and different looks. I have a thing for single beds. They look fabulous, especially the one's with a cornice and curtains. Elegant.
Great lesson too! I need to take that to heart.
