The same afternoon the pillow covers arrived, I made curtains for the window behind the bed and a fixed shade for the window seat. It was the easiest thing I have done. Tutorials to follow.
I'm not ready for the full reveal, but at least you get the picture.
Also, I painted the nightstands Sherwin Williams - Urban Bronze. I am loving this color. It is dark, but not quite black and it goes perfectly with the darker color in the neck roll pillows. This room is becoming the peaceful retreat that I want it to be...slowly.

I know that feeling all to well, Love the burlap window shade... making on one for the kitchen. and the bed look cozy.

ReplyDeleteOh I SEE those tumblr posts, alright! They are like a little dose of design crack in the middle of the afternoon. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the room, Rene! You are so smart!

I also prefer a simple and peaceful bedroom. Would you happen to know the brand and pattern of your white bedcover? I have been looking for one for a while now just like yours.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows!! They are beautiful and the curtains look perfect! I can't wait to see more. I am living and learning in my bedroom right now too. I need my beachy colors back. :)
ReplyDeletei think we have a lot in common with that... i always love funky pops of color for a bit, and i love painting with fresh fun colors, but in my own home, i crave soothing cool neutrals, and i get tired of the bold. i can't wait to see those nightstands- that color sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove your new bolster covers and window treatments! So funny that you posted about this - I have been making a couple fixed roman shades too and can't believe I never thought to do this before. Looks like you've been a busy girl - hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou bed room looks fantastic. I love the pillows and the shade you made is just awesome. I can't wait to see it all! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteXO,

Rene, I love the burlap. My sister has done the same thing on some windows. Hey we are neighbors on MM.
ReplyDeleteThe changes you made look great! I am working on a "live and learn" post myself so this is timely. Good for you for making the switch to what felt more right. =)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more! It's looking great!
ReplyDeleteI did love your navy and white drapes behind the bed! And the duvet in the graphic print. I'm so anxious to see what you have changed to now. The new pillows look great!

ReplyDeleteLOVE the new pillows!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great Rene. I am excited to see the reveal. I think calm, neutral colors in the bedroom are wonderful. Happy to hear about that paint color as I need a color for some feet on an ottoman and I don't want black. . . but very close.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks great! I'll be sprucing the bedroom soon. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteRene, I love your bolster pillows and color of your nightstands. I can't believe you made those shades in an afternoon! Also, I am so loving your tumblr and while I don't have one, it is such a neat idea!!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteUrban Bronze looks a great color and I really think the neutral bedroom is the way to go. I need to repaint. Do you have a source to share for your roman blind? Hope you'll stop by too, and see our fabrics. Jane
ReplyDeleteI need inspiration! Thank you so much for the links here since I love what I see so far.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I can't wait to see. It always makes me laugh, when something new enters a room, all of the other things that get done too! New pillows=new curtains and nightstands!
ReplyDeletelove the custom pillows and I am laughing because I have pretty much the same post today - the redo of the bedroom, first attempt gone wrong - LOL. While I do like the walmart pattern one you had originally, but I like the new room better! I also introduced burlap into my new update as well - great minds :) Can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteLooks stunning! So my style too!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing more. A lot more!

Great minds think alike--today I posted about my hesitation toward color in a certain room! Why do I love it in some but prefer neutrals in others? Who knows--you just have to go with what you feel. Love that Urban Bronze and your pillows. Can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeleteI really like how your room looks. It is very relaxing and tranquil looking. Love the burlap and I'm looking forward to seeing the full reveal. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the big reveal! I love the color of the night stands.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the tutorials on your window treatments. I am planning on making burlap drapes for my dining room.

Your pillows are
fab and I bet the
rest of the room
is too....Thanks

Your pillows turned out great, Rene! I have not had a chance to start on my chair yet in that same fabric. The Urban Bronze color looks fabulous. We're trying to turn our bedroom into more of a neutral space and have it be more relaxing and peaceful. Right now it's still the bolder colors from when we purchased the house. Nice job with your curtains and shade!
