Office Inspiration Mood Board and a Reader Shout Out

A friend of mine recently asked me for advice in her home office.  Looking for any excuse to make a mood board, I jumped on it.  While most of Amy's home is neutral, she wanted to bring in touches of blue and have a feminine space that is all her own.  I had so much fun putting this mood board together for her.

The walls in the room were already painted a nice taupe, so I chose complimentary fabrics that introduced color, but didn't veer to far off the neutral color story found in the home.  Below you see two fabrics.  The multicolor floral will be used on the desk chair and the blue and white damask will be used for panels.  The panels will be hung on a bamboo pole if we can find one.  We plan to stitch gold rings to the fabric to hang them from.

To brighten the space, Amy will paint her existing desk and chair white.  To make the most use of the small space, we plan to make a bulletin board with leftover fabric from the panels.  I found some pretty ribbon from M & J that we will use to hang the bulletin board and a gorgeous brass flower knob from Anthro.  I am a huge fan of brass apothecary lamps so I picked one for the desk.  My friend isn't as crazy about them, so we will see :)  To round out the space and to keep things on the feminine side, I recommended a brown and creme zebra rug.

I don't say this often enough, but I love to hear from you all!!  Really, if it wasn't for ya'll, there would be no point to all of this blogging.  I love knowing that something I do gives someone else inspiration, be it ever so small.  So when Liz, from Little Peace of Home emailed me, I knew that I had to share this.  Using the tutorial I posted a while back, Liz and her sister-in-law made their own  burlap table runners.

Didn't she do a great job?  To read Liz's post, go here.  To fancy hers up a bit for Christmas, she added a strip of jute to the top.  Thanks for sharing this with me Liz!!

Do you have a cottage and vine inspired project you would like to share?  I would love to share them with everybody.  Email me at cottageandvine@triad.rr.com

  1. Darling, isn't if fun to help out friends?! Give Pier One a try for the bamboo poles, depending on the width of the window, you may find one that works there. Hope you post the finished product!
