I like the way mini-shades can make a serious chandelier seem a little more playful. Shades are also a fun way to repeat a color in a room. I'm thinking about adding them to our chandelier in the dining room. Anything low commitment that be quickly changed is good in my book.

What do think about shades?
I ♥ 'em! I'm looking for mine. I packed them away somewhere. My plan is to cover them with different wall paper covers. I saw this done a few weeks ago and have been looking for them ever since. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteLove the shades! I say go for it ... fun way to spruce up or give a new look to your chandie! *Becca*
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, Rene. I picked up some cheap white chandelier shades from Goodwilll and would love to dye them. Not too similar from what Everything LEB did w/her lamp shade: http://everythingleb.blogspot.com/2011/02/here-comes-sun.html
ReplyDeleteThey are all great!
ReplyDeleteLove your "shady" ideas! I really had no idea they could be added to chandaliers. This certainly has gotten me started thinking....

They are definitely a way to change up the look of a room inexpensively! Love some of the photos that you featured with chandeliers in the living space.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice way to dress up a chandelier. I can see changing them out to match party decor, too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI just took mind off and I'm not sure that I like it with out I need to live with it for a couple of days, But I think I like it better with.

I love them. New shades in the foyer and adding shades in the dining room saved us several $$$ with our recent updating because rather than replacing the shades just made them "work"!
ReplyDeleteLove them too! They take the edge off of a traditional fixture. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou and I both have lighting on the brain these days! I LOVE shades on chandeliers. I think it cozys everything up and makes the chandy feel less formal. Beautiful inspiration pictures! And you are so right low committment, easy to change is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteRene, I love the shades, especially the black. So elegant.
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is going well.

Love shades...just madeover some old ones for my buffet lamps...so I'm a fan!!!
ReplyDeleteAll these great pictures make me want to try shades on my living room chandelier, I have always loved them.
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures. I put shades and added crystals to fancy up my dining room builder grade chandelier. I love the soft light from the shades.
ReplyDeleteI love shades and I have seen them in so many different colors. The chandys {and rooms} in all these pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteXO,

i love the look and agree it makes it a little more playful. we have them in our last house, and it was a very easy change if i wanted to change the mood of the room.
ReplyDeleteI think you should go for it. Your so right about it adding a little playfulness. It just seems to finish the look so nicely.
ReplyDeleteI like them, they tend to soften some harsh lighting and - like your photos - it's a great way to add color and tie into the room decor!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and I think that that is a wonderful idea. They are quick and easy to change, I am all about that too! ;) A great way to add a pop of color!
ReplyDeleteI love to have
ReplyDeleteshades on my chandy
in the winter ~ I
think it's cozy.
Mine are leopard!
In the summer, I
remove them for a
bare bones, "cooler"
look. I like the
idea of color,
especially this
time of year : )

ReplyDeleteYou're making me feel much better about my chandelier! I've had mini shades on it for years, but had never thought to switch up the color!! Fun way to change it up! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes, those mini shades are too darn cute! So many great colors and patterns out there, they can really be fun to add some life and personality to a room.
ReplyDeleteI don't prefer shades. To me they're just a little fussy and another thing to dust. However, I LOVE that second to last photo. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteWow! How neat!!
