Sun Room Plan B
Sometimes it works out for the best when I don't jump on a project right away. A while back I designed a mood board for our sun room and I even starting painting the wicker white. Then an urge hit to get rid of the wicker. So I sold it. In walks plan b which involved moving a more comfortable little camel back love seat to the sun room along with a couple of rescued chairs.
Here is the love seat in another room before I moved it. It reminds me of the one in Southern Living this month which featured women who do furniture makeovers for a living. Sound familiar?

into this. This is a project that I want to take on myself so I will go the less permanent slip cover route in case I really mess up, but what a fun little piece. I'm thinking of using a ticking stripe similar to these inspiration photos.
About a year ago I found this chair for a song. Yes, I said a year. It takes me forever to make a move. Here is my inspiration photo for the chair.
Now I just need to get my nerve up to begin. I have after all managed to put this off for a year. Do you do that?

I picked up a wing back chair about a year ago that I've been planning on recovering. Note the "been planning." Don't worry, it's not just you. Can't wait to see it done.

ReplyDeleteoh i do the same thing...with decorating and even with spending money. We will hem and haw over purchases like a needed car or in the case right now, a pool for YEARS. The car thing drug on for a year and this pool decision has been since we moved in. And then all of the sudden, something will snap and we do it...and then some dear friend will make a comment like "well THAT took forever". Ha.

ReplyDeleteLove the use of the unexpected in a sunroom, a camelback loveseat decked out in ticking! "Use what you have" is a great way to freshen things up without breaking the bank and you have some great goodies to work with.

I totally just did the same thing to our sunroom. I painted all of our wicker grey and about 6 months later decided I hated the wicker period. I moved a sofa out there and boy is it a lot comfier!

ReplyDeleteDo I do that? It is more like when do I don't do that! Ha. Wow - I LOVE camelback sofas and yours is so pretty and that cane chair - so lovely! I love the white cushions with black piping for the chair and the ticking stripe for the sofa. It's going to be gorgeous, Rene!

I have a love seat that looks a lot like this one I can't wait to get a slipcover made for it, love the chair and can't wait to see it when it's done I think you made the right choice

ReplyDeleteI slipcovered my nearly identical settee. I loved going with a print vs a solid. You can really hide "stuff" that way.

I just love the chair you have. And that inspiration picture is perfect. I can't wait to see what you do with the pieces. You are so inspiring. I bought a desk I am planning to redo over a year ago as well . . .it collects dust nicely in the garage!

ReplyDeleteI do that all the time! Ketchup and Mustard (2 chairs that need slipcovered) have been with us for 3 years and were to be slipcovered right away! Well, they are still waiting to be covered :)

It takes me awhile to tackle some things too, Rene. I change my mind a few times and then question my final decision. I have a dresser in the garage that's been sitting there close to a year and I've changed my mind about 8 times on what color to paint it. I think a ticking stripe would be very nice and fit your house well. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do! I say you get started on your couch and I'll get started on my dresser!

I think we have the exact same loveseats. Only I found two matching. I am planning to make slipcovers too. I have a 110 year old farmhouse a little different than a sunroom. My parlor is not very big so the loveseats will be perfect. I'm going with a pretty fabric call Palace Scroll by Waverly. I can't figure out how to post a picture with this note. I'll let you know when I finish it to share the pictures. :)
