Here is the love seat in another room before I moved it. It reminds me of the one in Southern Living this month which featured women who do furniture makeovers for a living. Sound familiar?
Amanda Brown turned this....
into this. This is a project that I want to take on myself so I will go the less permanent slip cover route in case I really mess up, but what a fun little piece. I'm thinking of using a ticking stripe similar to these inspiration photos.

Wonderful pieces.
ReplyDeleteIt also takes me a while to be certain about major changes. Hmm, but then again, sometimes I just jump in and live with the consequences :)
I picked up a wing back chair about a year ago that I've been planning on recovering. Note the "been planning." Don't worry, it's not just you. Can't wait to see it done.
ReplyDeleteGreat Plan Im anxious to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteoh i do the same thing...with decorating and even with spending money. We will hem and haw over purchases like a needed car or in the case right now, a pool for YEARS. The car thing drug on for a year and this pool decision has been since we moved in. And then all of the sudden, something will snap and we do it...and then some dear friend will make a comment like "well THAT took forever". Ha.
ReplyDeleteI have a loveseat like the one you showed.....the ticking is just fabulous - you are giving me ideas! Linda...p.s. It's okay to take a long time....that's a lot of your time and energy that will be invested, so, wait and do it right!
ReplyDeleteLove the use of the unexpected in a sunroom, a camelback loveseat decked out in ticking! "Use what you have" is a great way to freshen things up without breaking the bank and you have some great goodies to work with.
ReplyDeleteI think I have a piece or two that have been lurking around my house waiting for some attention, I better get on it!
Cathy
I totally just did the same thing to our sunroom. I painted all of our wicker grey and about 6 months later decided I hated the wicker period. I moved a sofa out there and boy is it a lot comfier!
ReplyDeleteOh Rene! If you could only drive over here and look in my garage, you would know the answer to that question :)
ReplyDeleteDo I do that? It is more like when do I don't do that! Ha. Wow - I LOVE camelback sofas and yours is so pretty and that cane chair - so lovely! I love the white cushions with black piping for the chair and the ticking stripe for the sofa. It's going to be gorgeous, Rene!
ReplyDeleteLove all your ideas! Especially the ticking. :-)
ReplyDeleteRene, I can't wait to see what you do with this sunroom!
ReplyDeletedroooooling over that chair! awesome! i love your idea! you have to get some rockin boots like that, too and when your loveseat is finished, sit on it with your cool boots and post it like that. can you tell i was eyeing the boots, too!
ReplyDeleteI love the ticking stripe, but won't that be extra hard to use for a slipcover? The thought of lining up those stripes scares me!
ReplyDeleteRene--do I ever! I've delayed upholstering a living room chair, ottoman, and x-bench n for awhile now, but these "before and afters" really get me motivated!
ReplyDeleteYour chair will certainly be gorgeous when finished. Please share it!
I have a love seat that looks a lot like this one I can't wait to get a slipcover made for it, love the chair and can't wait to see it when it's done I think you made the right choice
ReplyDeletePattie
Love your sofa, Rene! I also think the chair will be beautiful painted black!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

I tend to sit and ponder big changes too. I know whatever you end up doing will be fabulous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that transformation from crap to green, I literally was almost like, "Holy s***!" And I don't even curse.
ReplyDeleteRene, I love that chair! I can't wait to see what you do with it! I know it will be fantastic! And yes, I too procrastinate ... something inside must know there is great inspiration out there and it's making us wait until we find it!
ReplyDeleteI slipcovered my nearly identical settee. I loved going with a print vs a solid. You can really hide "stuff" that way.
ReplyDeleteMy slip is showing.
I wish I was more like you, I think about and then do it before I finished thinking about it! :) I can't wait to see how the love seat and chair turn out, I have a lazy boy rocking chair that I want to recover but have NO idea how to do that! Love the ticking fabric too!
ReplyDeleteGo for the ticking stripe, so classic I know you'll love it in the end.
ReplyDeleteHmm, do I put things off...how about a backsplash that's not been installed for over a year, and I own the daggone tile!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your little love seat and the idea of slipcovering it in ticking. That photo from Southern Living with the little boy in it is beautiful! I also love the inspiration photo for your chair and I'm sure your chair will be wonderful too! Just don't wait another year now that you have such great inspiration! ;-)
Kat :)
I just love the chair you have. And that inspiration picture is perfect. I can't wait to see what you do with the pieces. You are so inspiring. I bought a desk I am planning to redo over a year ago as well . . .it collects dust nicely in the garage!
ReplyDeleteUm yes...I have the same problem, my tastes change as the wind blows. Not a great problem to have:) I love your inspiration photos. GO FOR IT! I know it will be fabulous. Been wanting to rescue a camelback sofa for a while.
ReplyDeleteyou can do it!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what you do....
LOVE blue ticking fabric....
I have euroshams and panels in it in my boys' room.
Ya know what it's ok to take your time and be sure of your decisions.Just by looking around your beautiful home it's obvious you always make the right one.Your home is very inspiring, would love if you stopped by my blog for a visit. Martina
ReplyDeleteHa! I always do that. How long have I been talking about my window seat/daybed?! Cannot wait to see how these turn out. I LOVE them both. Great lines, great style. Love.
ReplyDeleteI do that all the time! Ketchup and Mustard (2 chairs that need slipcovered) have been with us for 3 years and were to be slipcovered right away! Well, they are still waiting to be covered :)
ReplyDeleteLoved all of your inspirational photo's! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you decide.
Wendy
You've got great style and flair ..sunny and bright is what comes to mind : )
ReplyDeleteI love ticking; I wish I were brave enough to attempt a slipcover.
ReplyDeletePS I wore the very cool scarf I bought with my giveaway prize today!
It takes me awhile to tackle some things too, Rene. I change my mind a few times and then question my final decision. I have a dresser in the garage that's been sitting there close to a year and I've changed my mind about 8 times on what color to paint it. I think a ticking stripe would be very nice and fit your house well. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do! I say you get started on your couch and I'll get started on my dresser!
ReplyDeleteahhh...love your lil love seat... ive been looking for one about that size! I am the same way about taking the plunge and actually making a fabric, paint or purchase commitment! You've got some great inspiration and i think you should go for it!
ReplyDeleteYour sofa will look fabulous in ticking stripes. Love the idea. Can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteOk I am DYING over that Tradtional Homes striped piece. GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeletePS. Congrats on the Etsy store- it's looking great!! : )
Rene...it takes me so long that half way through I get re-inspired and want to start over. Love the black and white ticking...always have...always will....
ReplyDeleteyour love seat is beautiful--great lines in that piece. Your rooms look great; always fun to move things around! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I think we have the exact same loveseats. Only I found two matching. I am planning to make slipcovers too. I have a 110 year old farmhouse a little different than a sunroom. My parlor is not very big so the loveseats will be perfect. I'm going with a pretty fabric call Palace Scroll by Waverly. I can't figure out how to post a picture with this note. I'll let you know when I finish it to share the pictures. :)
