Greek Key Night Stands

Today's quoteNeutral doesn't have to mean boring.
author ~ me

Every since I went with a more neutral color scheme in the master bedroom, I felt that it lacked any pizazz.  Know what I mean?  In order to get neutral right - at least in my little opinion - you need layers of texture and contrast..

When I started these changes, I knew it would be a process.  One that would evolve over time with ideas coming to me gradually.  Once the pillows were added, the night stands called for a new color.

I went with SW urban bronze for the color, but felt they needed something more.

My blogging friend and Weim lover, Rebecca from the blog GibbGabb, recently did a great makeover on her tables giving me the inspiration for my project.

Rebecca's tables

Finding a Greek Key pattern that I liked was easy after reading this post.  I began taping and re-taping until the pattern looked the OK.

After two coats of white semi-gloss and removing the tape, the best part by far, this is the result.

Did you make the bolster pillows? I need a tutorial. I want to make one really bad.

Thanks LindsB!

Kelli, I purchased the pillows here for less than I could have made them myself. Love them!

Rene, Your table is gorgeous! So upscale and updated! I love the vignettte on your table too!
You are right about neutrals. I redocorated my family room last winter, and I just had to add a little color. I chose some blue and white transferware to pull it together. I also added a big black and white floral, sorta like the impact of the key design.
Your room is so inviting! You really nailed it!
What a great visit!

Excellent! The clean lines of the nightstands works so well with the crisp greek key!

I just love a touch of greek key! Adding some GK moulding to a vintage china cabinet tonight, in fact!

Oh, Rene. It is beautiful. What a difference a pattern makes. Did it take a long time to tape off?

Thanks ya'll! Courtney, taping it off was the hardest part for me. Definitely stimulated some gray matter. Now that one is done the other one should be a cinch.

Fantastic! I love the little glass knobs on the drawers and the pattern on top is beautiful. Love the pillows too on the white spread. I change my bedding over to an antique white coverlet in the summer. I love white in the bedroom. Nice job.

This is awesome! I will definitely have to try it.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I have the same neutral theme in my bedroom as well. I love it! My walls are a greenish khaki with white chair rail and painted white below chair rail. I have sheer black and sheer white curtains on my windows. Very simple. Then my bed is an old vintage wood bed that i painted glossy black. I also have two matching vintage dressers that i also painted glossy black. But the reason i am mainly commenting is the picture you have on your nightstand??? I HAVE THE SAME ONE...!!! :) In fact i have four of them the same size as the one you have and a massive one. They really seem to add such a peaceful quality to the room. Love what you did to your room. Such talent! :)
