Today's Special Guest: Courtney from "A Thoughtful Place"

 Today let's welcome Courtney from the blog A Thoughtful Place!  Courtney is a lovely mother of two little ones and boy does she get a lot done during nap-time.  She is such an inspiration and when it comes to organization, she knows how to make it all look cute.  Love cute organization!  Today she is sharing her daughter's room.  It's your turn Courtney.

I was over the moon when Rene asked me to guest post here at Cottage and Vine. Rene is one of the most supportive and wonderful people I have gotten to know through blogging. She constantly inspires me. Today I am happy to be sharing with you one of my favorite projects. Transforming my daughter's nursery to her big girl room was filled with such great moments. She had A LOT to say about how it was done! And rightly so! Her nursery was a pale blue to begin with {which I loved by the way}. But this princess loving, pink wearing girl made it very clear that it was time for the blue to go. We painted the walls "just enough pink" by Dunn Edwards. We cut the color by 25% and came up with a very soft pink. My hubby jumped in and did the bead board and I was the painter!

 To fill this wall, I placed scrapbook paper over the glass in each frame. I then glue gunned the letters to the paper. Hanging them from ribbons added depth and does a nice job of filling the space. The letters were bright to begin with so I painted them  with a sage green painted and sanded the edges.

I wanted to mix lots of patterns and fabrics for her bedding. I made the duvet myself with a striped Ralph Lauren sheet I had found. I added a white border around the edges and backed it with a white sheet. The paisley and striped coverlette was purchased at Marshall's. 

The table in her room is very special to us as my dad made and painted it for the first granddaughter in our family. It has been passed down ever since. Riley spends countless hours drawing here and cooking with her brother. We are invited to her restaurant on a daily basis.

We found the chandelier at Lowe's. It was a must on Riley's list for her big girl room. The pom poms are  from the mother-daughter tea party we had.

These hooks were originally bright blue and pink. I picked them up at Target on clearance and then painted them to match the room. One hosts her hair clips and the other is for her to hang her tote bag on after school each day.

For the hair display frame I spray painted what was once a black frame. I covered the glass with a piece of batting and fabric and wrapped a ribbon around it. She is able to clip her bows on and off by herself which saves us time in the morning!

The curtains were made from fabric shower curtains. I bought two {one paisley and one striped}. I cut the paisley one in half and attached stripes to the bottom of each. Because it is a shower curtain, it already had holes at the top. I slipped white ribbon through each one and tied it to the rod.

The "Imagine Dream Inspire" words were found at Home Goods.

 The pink room has become one of my favorite spots in the house. I am sure it's because my daughter absolutely loves her room and enjoys being creative and imaginative in the space. Reading stories and talking about her day each night in her bed is one of my favorite parts of the day.
