My Home Ideas
At night, the overflow of guests, ie. the kids usually slept on the screened porch which was lined with day beds. Sleeping this way was such a treat and I was usually too tired to worry that a bear might come through the screen and get me.
Here are just a few images that look inviting for sleeping or simply taking a break in the middle of the day.

Thank you to everyone who responded with words of support and resources for my chair crisis. I am feeling a little more confident that the upholstery can be done, but I might start with painter's canvas in case I mess up. Maybe a bright coat of paint on the legs will detract from any mistakes :)
Also, in honor of Mother's Day, I am having a 15% off sale in my Etsy store now through Mother's Day. Use promo code: MOTHERSDAY2011. This discount does not include shipping. Happy shopping!

Ahhhhh.Lovely
ReplyDeleteAwesome ideas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Sandy
I just ordered the gold duck, and there was no where to put in the 15%, is there anyway I can fix that? Thanks!
ReplyDeletesoooo dreamy!!! i need to open a pinterest acct. i got an invite but was afraid i would just be sucked in and sit there all day and night and not sleep, but instead look at images of sleeping places... ;)
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!
In my next house. Love all these images and sit and dream about being able to call a space like one of these "home" one day.

Rene,
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of those days at the lake. We sleep on the screen porch. We worried about snakes, lol.
I adore the beds hung by chains, and the beautiful iron bed.
Have a great week.

Rene, so funny that you wrote about this after I just spent this past weekend sleeping outdoors with my dauhter's girl scout troop. I would prefer any of the accommodations you posted rather than the tent I slept in!! A porch with a day bed and a warm summer breeze blowing through the screen sounds divine, I must admit. Especially in the morning when you wake up to the birds chirping, the sun shining and a beautiful lake next to you. Dreamy.
ReplyDeleteOh, those spaces are just dreamy. lol. No,seriously I would love to do something that would incorporate a lounging area in my screen porch. I always think how much I would like to take a nap in the warm summer air in the screen porch. Looking at the long benches that have cushions looks like something I could fit in the porch. Hmm? Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous...I wish we had a screened porch. Or maybe, I wish we didn't have mosquitoes...haha.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! i told my husband i wanted a hanging bed for the little patio outside my office and he scoffed-- now i have something to show him. Aren't they wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous images!!! Always.
ReplyDeleteAt our old cottage that we rented growing up there was a bed in the screened porch, it was so wonderful. My grandpa and I would take naps on it while listening to the sounds of the waves lap on the shore. I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a bed swing on a porch some day. Thank you for the sweet memories. :)
What lovely images! Is the Badin Lake you are referring to in NC? If so I have been there several times - it is beautiful!
ReplyDelete*** As Bob Hope would say, "THANKS.... for the memories!"... This brought me back to OUR FAMILY CABIN ehrn I was young... I lovvvvved it there SOOOOOO MUCH (Maybe that's why I love the mountains so much, even tho I adore THE BEACH, where I was born n' raised!)...
ReplyDelete"WUNNAFUL-A-WUNNAFUL" POSTING!!! MANY GENUINELY SINCERE THANKS!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great childhood memory! Such beautiful pics! I'll take one of each please. ;) Happy Monday!!
ReplyDeleteI live 5 minutes from Badin Lake. It is a great place and I have so many memories from there sence I was little.I used to think it was Badin Suit when I was little til I grew up and learned it was Bathing Suit. lol My Grandparents used to own a place there and every Sunday we would cook out, swim, ski, fish and we still do now. I love were I live:) Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful rooms, Rene! I would love to lounge in any of them!
ReplyDeleteHey, the Nicholas House project finished up last week. I posted about my room today. http://lorimayinteriors.com/nicholas-housethe-final-reveal/
These spaces look relaxing and casual...perfect for the lake house mood. Everyone needs a place like this to escape to!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your great photos. Every summer growing up Mom and Dad would rent a cottage in Muskoka or Haliburton. Sometimes for the whole summer, and sometimes just for two weeks. I realize now how fortunate we were to spend our time in the great outdoors. Your photos bring back really good memories.
ReplyDeleteOh, those images are calling my name! So relaxing. I could get used to that. Hope you've had a great day.
ReplyDeleteYour weekends at the lake house sound fun, Rene. Isn't it fun to have those memories from childhood? Beautiful images and so relaxing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images! I loooooove those hanging beds, but I can see that being an absolute disaster ending with an ER visit for one(or both) of my boys. Still, it's nice to dream. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSigh. This and a kitchen nook are my fondest wishes!
