Yesterday I chaperoned a sixth grade zoo trip. Seven boys were in my group. We had a wonderful day and I couldn't have asked for a better group! The biggest thrill though, was feeding the giraffes. They are so gentle and trusting and quickly became my new favorite animal.

I have a ceramic giraffe that my grandmother bought at an auction in the 60's-- it was the only thing I wanted when she downsized her house. He is 3 feet tall, seated, and we call him Raif:)
ReplyDeleteOff to read your other post!
Feeding the giraffes is always a fun part of a zoo trip. There blue tongues are always a surprise to first-timers. Terrific images! I hadn't realized how often I've seen the giraffe form or print in decor until now. Some of those rooms are already sitting in my inspiration files. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletehow fun, and i love the serene feeling a giraffe brings to a room! that image with the blue armoire... oh i love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post and I love all of your images, especially from the zoo!

I have always been a sucker for animal print and I'm so loving that chair in the 3rd photo. All of the photos are great inspiration! Glad you enjoyed the field trip!
ReplyDeleteAren't giraffe's extinct?!?!?! Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets that joke??? Ha!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I never gave them much thought until the other night while watching million dollar decorators... That woman was slow or stupid when she asked that questions!
Anyway, you have pulled together some great examples of how they can be tastefully added to your home's decor!
Rene,
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you had so much fun. I remember those days.
I LOVE the wallpaper!

Cute post. I recently went to the zoo and also fell in love with the giraffe.
ReplyDeleteMy girls love the giraffes most when we visit the zoo. They are so funny! Ever seen them go spread eagle to take a drink of water? It's hilarious
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to combine the black and white curtains and the green patterned wall paper in the last picture, but it works!

That giraffe fabric is great! I love the mustard background. It would be so cute in a nursery. This was a great group of pic's. Thanks for sharring.
ReplyDeleteHi Rene, I know giraffes are so sweet. I love the giraffe fabric as long as it isn't real. When I was watching million dollar decorators this week and Mary used a giraffe skined stool for her clients guest house, it made me so sad.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love where you can get inspiration? Just saw the kitchen feature...so great!
ReplyDeleteFran and Lakeitha, I still have not seen this show, but it sounds like I need to. And no, I could never use a "real" giraffe.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting zoos that let you feed the giraffes. They are such sweet animals!
