First of all, let me say this. I love Rene. I love her blog. There. One of the reasons I love her is that when I first started blogging and would leave a comment....she would answer me back with a little sarcasm and off we would go......back and forth. I like that in a person. Humor has always been important to me.
I am supposed to show you guys my favorite room. Well, that changes on a weekly basis. It all depends on which room I have "torn" up to change. WHAT???? Don't make that look...I know you do it too.
Well you are in for a treat because today I have pictures of my keeping room over the years. When we first renovated our house in 1993 it was intended to be used as a dining area.
Here she be.....
Table, chairs.....we never used it. In my opinion it was never quite big enough. Not sure why there is only 1 shade up. Who knows.
It did not last very long that way and I turned it into a small sitting area. You are gonna laugh now. Go on...I won't hold it against you. But in my defense this was about 15 years ago.
I can barely look at this without laughing. Hee Haw! Snot just blew out my nose......
Now I have changed it a little. You would think I would have left it alone right. Good enough for a magazine....don't touch. Nah.....I like to play.
Pardon the cords....I could have unplugged but I was too lazy.
I added the curtains to soften it a little. You buy that??? Nah...I got tired of cleaning my windows :)
Did move the other white lamp somewhere else. Got the black fabric over the chair at Scott's. It is a Kuba clothe from Africa.
This sucker has doubled in height since I got it at the beginning of summer.
This is my favorite room because it is where my husband sits at night so I can rub his feet after a hard days work. WHAT??? You don't do that? Bad wifey.
No serious....This is the sunniest place in my house and I love to sit here and plot further changes to my spaces......
This here is the end of the keeping room story as told by Sha Dazzle. Hope you enjoyed and your popcorn lasted through the whole show. I hate when I go to the movies and I eat all mine before it even starts. I like to put goobers in my popcorn.
Thanks Rene.

Sherry Hart, I love you. Period. By the way, thanks so much for sharing your favorite room with us! To see more of Sherry's work go here.

This makes me want to go create a space like Sherry's! I love it when people make useful spaces!
ReplyDeleteDebbie (bad wifey)
So bright, comfortable and inviting. The space makes me relax just looking at it. Thanks for introducing me to another blog to check out.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Erin
Thanks Sherry and thanks for sharing Sherry Rene! You both sound funny. Long time follower, Elizabeth from Good Memories Cafe
ReplyDeleteLove seeing how it has changed over the years and why! Sherry is too funny! Take care, Caroline
ReplyDeleteI love Sherry, too. She is a hoot. I know she said we would laugh at the first room, but it is so Charles Faudree and I liked it. It does look great now.
ReplyDeleteThe best part about Sherry is her humor...but damn that girl can decorate too! Thanks for sharing Rene...and Sherry!
ReplyDeleteCathy
What a cozy, bright space! That chair looks really comfy too! Sherry cracks me up too :) Great start to my day!

Wow it looks so inviting!
ReplyDeleteThe thing that I love about Sha Dazzle, aside from her sense of humor, is that she shows us that design is a process, a room is never done and it's okay to experiment. She makes it okay to not be perfect; it's okay for pillows to have dog ears and sometimes you just got to work with the straight-ass hair you have.
ReplyDeleteAll valuable lessons.
Sherry, this was fabulous! I love that you don't take it all too seriously. And, really, shouldn't spaces evolve over time? The room clearly is more "user-friendly" set up as a true sitting area rather than for dining.
ReplyDeleteI love Sherry too...the way she puts a rooms together is amazing and she always makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteLonden
What a great use of that space! So cozy and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love what Sherry did with this space - much prettier and more functional than the dining room.
ReplyDeletewell done

Excellent room! I like the way you're using it now verses dining area, great use of space!
ReplyDeleteI love the curtains hung in the middle. The space is airy and bright. And ShaDizzle is a trip. Enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great space. The blinds look so good on the windows and I love the drop leaf table. The floral pillow on the wicker chair is so cute. Did you make those?
ReplyDeleteLove Sherry, love her blog, and love this room!! It looks like a cozy cafe but the best part is that it's actually in her home! I adore the pillows and that black side table.
ReplyDeleteSherry is such a rebel! If BH&G featured a room in my house, I probably wouldn't touch it for another 20 years. Glad she's not afraid to mix things up. And, she's damn funny, which is another reason I love her blog.
ReplyDeleteSherry is a trip. I love her blog, she makes me laugh every post. I think it is so smart that she made this a sitting room. People always end up hanging in and around the kitchen anyway. The room is so bright and pretty. I love all the natural fibers, and even that big ole green plant looks amazing! What is that thing?
ReplyDeleteCindy

They booted my butt right out of wifey school.....and yet I'm still married. Hmmmmm....
ReplyDeleteThe space is perfection. My favorite things are the table, the lamp and the ceiling light fixture.
How far do you live from Delaware??? You could work wonders in my house.
I adore Sherry and her space! Would love that same look and feel in my living room...
ReplyDeleteSherry: That is just about the best, happiest little corner of sunshine ever! I can see you sitting in there blogging--is that right? I like Red Vines with my popcorn...let's go to the movies. We saw "My Idiot Brother" last night...sweet...uh oh now you have ME digressing.
ReplyDeleteRene: Thanks for featuring Sherry--ha! and answering her back with a little sarcasm.
