A Busy Weekend

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that you were able to enjoy the fresh fall air.  The temperatures dropped here in Greensboro.  So we are in serious "sweater & boots mode".

This was a crazy busy weekend.  As the saying goes, I need a weekend to recover from the weekend.  With all of the celebrating we did, it became perfectly clear to me how important the kitchen is to our family.  It is truly the heart of our home.  And, as you can see by the text books lined up on the banquette, all of the homework happens here too.

Opening a present first thing birthday morning.

Blowing out the candles at the birthday party.

 Pancake breakfast after the sleepover.

 Celebrating with Grandma...

 ...and Tappa.

What about you - is the kitchen the heart of your home too?

  1. Looks like a full and wonderful weekend! The kitchen is absolutely the heart of our home, and was the driving force behind the remodel a few years back. Having an open space that others could feel connected in was a top priority.

    Sounds like an awesome week-end!

  4. I'm looking forward to that boots and sweater weather, probably still a few weeks away here.
You have a beautiful kitchen! Our kitchen / dining room / family room area is where we all spend most of the time in our home.
I know what you mean about needing some time to recover from the weekend, I would love to have a day at home to get things organized around here, but off to work I must go

  5. Aw, what a handsome family you have. It's fun to see the family side of things and what brings you joy. I don't post many personal photos or thoughts, but this makes me want to do a personal post every now and then. Yep, the kitchen is where we spend a lot of time too. Yours is beautiful.

  11. Happy Birthday to your guy! (Blessings to Mom, too; welcome to 13!) Our kitchen, living room, and dining are all one room, so we definitely do our living in that space, but with three cooks in the family, the kitchen section is definitely the favorite!

  14. Looks like a great time Rene! Our kitchen is definitely the heart of our home, which is why we chose it as one of the first rooms we remodeled soon after we moved in.

  16. Fall has arrived here in NY. Great pics. The kitchen is warmer than the rest of the house and truly is the heart of the home even when entertaining..guests tend to congregate around the island.
