I often hear questions like this. Most of us were thrilled when we moved into our first apartment and rarely turned down freebies given to us by our families. Honestly, to this day, I rarely turn down furniture. Over the years we try to make these pieces work until one day we realize that this just isn't our style at all. Sound familiar?
Most of us cannot re-stock our homes with all new furniture overnight nor do we want to. Many of us have at least one piece of furniture with sentimental meaning and we just need to find ways to make them work with our style. Updates with paint, fabric, and trim detail can often let you showcase your personal style while still hanging onto family heirlooms.
These chairs can be pretty pricey, but I did find a few lower priced sources.
This is probably the best deal going with 4 chairs for $190.

Last but not least, I want to sincerely thank Lisa from the blog A Room With a View for this post. I really appreciate you for supporting my little store Lisa!

I love the metal of the chairs (and pop of color) with the big old wooden table in the first photo!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine just changing those chairs created a whole new look, great job Rene! Love those chairs, good choice!
ReplyDeleteI bought the ones from overstock in white about 5 months ago for the same reason your client wants them. I love them! We did have to have a new one sent to us because one from the original set came bent but they shipped it out for free and told us to just keep the damaged one too.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the Tolick chairs and think they would be a great in a family friendly type of household. I also agree that I don't usually say no when family gives me furniture, but I'm also not afraid to say no thank you or let me think about it if I know it's nothing we'd ever use.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lisa's post was a great one and I've been meaning to browse your shop too as I haven't visited in a while. Have a great weekend!
I was just over at World Market on Wed. Was going to look at the same chair. the ones there are just not worth %129.00. I really love the look of them.
ReplyDeletei am in love with that style of chair! love the fun colors, too! happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband (then boyfriend) and I moved into our first place we took so many freebies from our family. Mostly because everythign that was in his place got the boot by my- hello who wants those oversized black leather couches from the frat house in their nice apartment? Not me :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we scored this antique kitchen table from my Grandparents and just happend to score 6 free tolix chairs when my office moved- I put them together right away and I LOVE the look. We dont have kids, but both pieces are super family friendly.
Combining new pieces, as well as family heirlooms, makes a home feel special and unique. I've done it many, many times as a young woman and loved reminiscing about the piece and the person who gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Overstock chairs! Nothing beats glossy red paint in my book.
Happy weekend, Rene!
being the fussy brat that I am, I'd want the originals!

I think that image you included of the dining room totally rocks. It is such a fun mix. Adore the yellow pop of the chairs along with that great artwork. M.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those chairs!
ReplyDeleteHey Rene. I cannot resist chairs and have many hand me downs as well as chairs I've since I got married 20 years ago! I just keep changing them up. Awesome chairs = happy wife!
ReplyDeleteAnthropologie was/is(?) carrying a copper one that I pretty covet, but the red and that green are pretty great too. You are right that these chairs would be perfect for kids -- even better than the leather because you could really SCRUB them.
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow metal chairs! So cute! And the legs on the table-love, love, love!
ReplyDeleteI've always love those chairs. Great advice Rene. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove how these chairs can breathe new life into a room!
ReplyDeleteI have come across those pieces and they are great-looking chairs. I love the items I purchased from your shop and was happy to share that with everyone. Thx, Rene.
