Moving on to the Christmas tree...
After countless trips to the store for more lights and finally finding a night when we could trim the tree as a family, here she is. I snapped a couple of pictures in the late afternoon/early evening.
Then, I tried taking a picture using
this tutorial, but unfortunately my camera does not go there. A good camera and improved photography skills are on my bucket list.
After playing around with picnik, I was able to make the lights whiter although it looks a bit overexposed now. Do you have any tips or tricks to taking/editing a better picture? I would love to add them to my
tips & tricks pin board.

I love a well-lit tree and I have spent many years growing up learning to light the tree from the inside out thereby illuminating the whole piece. Yours looks amazing. You have captured some beautiful pics of it - particularly in the late afternoon/early evening. I am still learning how to use my camera and experiment on picasa.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I like your photos better than the one in the tutorial....except the last one. Did you try taking photos at night with a few lamps on in the room? I found if you have only the tree lights on, they don't illuminate the front of the ornaments. With lights on in the room, you should get some better illumination on the ornaments.
It's a really beautiful traditional tree though. Very nice!

ReplyDeleteSteve, the tutorial suggested turning the lights off. Maybe that is where I went wrong since my settings don't quite do the trick. I will try that tonight and see. Nothing beats your tree though.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter says wide open lens with camera on tripod are best for getting the full effect of the lights without washed effect (and no flash of course). However, your shots look great...whatever you did, it's working!
