Moving on to the Christmas tree...
After countless trips to the store for more lights and finally finding a night when we could trim the tree as a family, here she is. I snapped a couple of pictures in the late afternoon/early evening.
Then, I tried taking a picture using this tutorial, but unfortunately my camera does not go there. A good camera and improved photography skills are on my bucket list.
After playing around with picnik, I was able to make the lights whiter although it looks a bit overexposed now. Do you have any tips or tricks to taking/editing a better picture? I would love to add them to my tips & tricks pin board.
Last but not least, dear friends of ours are moving. This gorgeous 2500 square foot home located in Greensboro, NC was built in 1939 and has three bedrooms and two baths. If you would like to know more, email me.

ReplyDeleteYour tree is beautiful!....You guys did a wonderful job on the decorating, love the shot with the back window in it..I know your pain with trying to get good night shots. Hope Santa is good to you and brings you that camera! Congrats on your win, beautiful stationary!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is a classic beauty...hmm...exactly your style! And, I think the photography is perfect! I was trying to read what your stool said, I got it, 1938 - same as our little cottage!
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks beautiful Rene! I too am trying to master taking photos of the tree at night with the lights on, but it is tricky.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I love a well-lit tree and I have spent many years growing up learning to light the tree from the inside out thereby illuminating the whole piece. Yours looks amazing. You have captured some beautiful pics of it - particularly in the late afternoon/early evening. I am still learning how to use my camera and experiment on picasa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious tree. It is just filled with lights, my favorite part!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Gorgeous tree!! I LOVE all of the colors!
ReplyDeleteRene-
ReplyDeleteYour tree is beautiful. I know that you and your family spent hours decorating.
Merry Christmas.

Rene,
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like your photos better than the one in the tutorial....except the last one. Did you try taking photos at night with a few lamps on in the room? I found if you have only the tree lights on, they don't illuminate the front of the ornaments. With lights on in the room, you should get some better illumination on the ornaments.
It's a really beautiful traditional tree though. Very nice!
I think we have the same chevron pillow!
ReplyDeleteThank you everybody!
ReplyDeleteSteve, the tutorial suggested turning the lights off. Maybe that is where I went wrong since my settings don't quite do the trick. I will try that tonight and see. Nothing beats your tree though.

Beautiful tree Rene! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter says wide open lens with camera on tripod are best for getting the full effect of the lights without washed effect (and no flash of course). However, your shots look great...whatever you did, it's working!
Have a good one...
I love your tree! The pics you took of it are gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures and your tree, it looks great!

Rene,
ReplyDeleteYour tree is beautiful and so are your photographs. I haven't shown our indoor tree because I have not been satisfied with the photos of it. I'm glad you are not leaving the house with the beautiful vine over the front. That's what I thought you were going to say!
I'm glad that the cards arrived safely Rene! Your tree is beautiful! I would love to take photography classes one day... so much to learn!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is so beautiful! I think your pics turned out terrific, too. I wasn't able to get a shot that I loved of our tree. A new camera is on my list, too. Thanks for sharing.
