I often receive emails asking about sources for lighting on my client mood boards. This may come as a surprise, but I make most of my lighting selections on-line. Not to bash, but lighting showrooms in our area often feature outdated styles and offer little inspiration. Additionally, looking through endless lighting catalogs is a real time killer. Shopping on-line is quick (usually) & easy.
By the way, this post is completely non-sponsored.
Many of the sites I use make searching easy. You can sort by lighting type, finish, price, etc. and quickly receive many options. I needed a pair of drum shade pendants for a foyer and found the one above from
Bellacor.
I recently finished a mood board for a boy's bathroom. I was looking for something classic with a modern edge and found this at
Shades of Light (one of my favorite lighting sources).

One of the most frequently asked questions on my blog other than, "
what color is your door?" is about the drum shades in our kitchen.
My apologies to those of you who have been reading my blog for a while. They are from Uttermost and you can find them
here.
I also use Overstock, Amazon, and many others. Now it is your turn, what is your go-to lighting source?
Great sources. I hadn't heard of Bellacor, but I will certainly be checking the site out now. I often use Ballard Design as a source too. Good options at good prices. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI often look at Overstock as well for affordable options and I like that you can sort by reviews too.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered a light from 1800lighting.com and it arrived very fast and in good condition. I used to order from a local showroom but it was much easier online and I didn't have to go pick it up! By the way, I LOVE the selection at Shades of Light!

Great Advice! And a beautiful post - Thanks so much for sharing and hope you have a wonderful day. Jalon
ReplyDeleteI love Circa or Visual Comfort but they are pretty pricey. I have an account with a designer that has a great discount so that helps:)

Amy, nothing beats Circa! Love Visual Comfort too...
ReplyDeleteShades of Light is my first go-to!
ReplyDeleteI have used that first one so much it is not even funny! I can not remember the last time I went into a showroom and bought a light fixture :)
ReplyDeleteI've always been a person who likes to see the item in person before purchasing. I am trying to break out of that mold and recently made my first online lighting purchase. I bought a beautiful chandelier from Overstock and am thrilled with it. Hope you're doing well, Rene.
ReplyDeleteSince we rent, I admit that I don't spend much time shopping for light fixtures, though I'm crazy for nearly every option that Shades of Light offers.
ReplyDeleteI like to shop online because it is easier to see and then often I order wholesale! Isn't that funny? I have accounts with most of the companies but their website stink! Easier to see online. I have been doing this so long I recognize what company they are from pretty quickly!
ReplyDeleteI go to a number of sites including the ones you have mentioned - also LampsPlus and Crate and Barrel, west elm, PB. Would love an Ikea nearby.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about lighting showrooms, Rene. Shades of Light is my fave, and I like anything Allen+Roth from Lowe's right now too.
