Does anyone remember the mood board I gave away way back when? Lisa, from the blog A Vintage Vine was the lucky recipient and she wanted help with her game room. Her style is mostly vintage ecclectic and she is quite the diy yourself maven. Lisa wanted help with the shelves and general clutter control. The sectional sofa and chair were to remain in the room. I made a few recommendations on wall color as well as a new color for the background of the shelves and provided Lisa with some ideas for accessories.
Before I show the final result, you need to see the before picture.
And now for the after...
The walls were painted Benjamin Moore Decorator's White. The background of the shelves is Benjamin Moore Rock Quarry to balance out the heavy warm tones in the sofa. I recommended a low cost solution to hide the electronics by hanging a curtain rod and simple fabric on the bottom portion of the shelves. Lisa executed this perfectly! Baskets were added to contain dvds, etc. To fill in the shelves, Lisa shopped the house, used spray paint, and found items on clearance at Target - again proving that you do not need to spend a lot to make huge improvements in your home.
Thanks for letting me share Lisa! To read more about the transformation, go here.

ReplyDeleteI love simple! Its very nice!
ReplyDeleteLook at that Rene! (and Lisa!) This is awesome. You can actually see the partitions of the shelves now (before they just blended right in). It looks organized and the new pillows look really nice. Really fantastic ladies!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! Love the colors of the built ins. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's an amazing transformation, and you're right...she did a great job with the execution. To me, this type of project highlights the value of working with an interior designer {even via email}. I never would have thought to use a dark gray to balance out the heavy warm tones of the furniture, but the result is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so great!!! She's a lucky girl to win your moodboard!
ReplyDeleteLove the transformed shelving and a great idea to paint behind the shelving - draws the eye to the wall and interesting items.
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation! The color behind the bookshelves works beautifully with the rust sofa and white walls and really makes the styling on the shelves pop. Great job ladies.
ReplyDeleteWOW...it looks SO much better...clean and organized. Good ideas and a good job executing!
ReplyDeleteI love transformations like this! You were so smart with the paint color too--now the orange in the sofa looks updated contrasted with the gray instead of the beige. Little changes can make such a big difference...
