We have a notebook, a 3-ring binder, that we use to put our favorite recipes in. If we try something once and like it, we usually have it one more time to be sure. After that, if the whole family agrees, the dish becomes a "Zieg Family Favorite". I print the recipe out, stick it in a clear plastic sleeve, and it goes in the notebook.
Thanks to pinterest, I am quickly adding to the collection of favorites. Great recipes come by the dozens on pinterest; do they not? Here are a few new favorites...
I found this recipe through Katie last week and made them last night for the swim meet. The kids kept coming by for more. Not a crumb left.
My family used to dread chicken. Not anymore. Can be made with lowfat mayo.
Love this dressing! I even use it on pasta salad.
Made these for a swim meet last night & used Laughing Cow Swiss Cheese - yum! For an extra kick add some Srirachi sauce.
Super creamy without all the extra fat. The secret is that it cooks in milk.
Now it is your turn...what tried and true recipes have you found on pinterest?

we have tried lots of the desserts- like cake mix rice krispie treats and those are delish! one of our faves was a spinach artichoke grilled cheese- it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like I need to find those recipes Cassie :)
ReplyDeleteI have to write about this one: we made "ice cream" out of frozen bananas. The kids were on the fence because they're not sure they love bananas to begin with, but Mark and I LOVED it….same consistency as ice cream, not a very strong banana flavor, and you can add chocolate or toppings. I highly recommend it! Looking forward to checking out these recipes you featured…..those cheesecake bars look delish - and that salad dressing - yum!
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me some new ideas! I am in a seriously unmotivated cooking rut. :) Clicking over to the chicken recipe right now...
ReplyDeleteOh lord, I thought I was a recipe hoarder BEFORE Pinterest. I have an insane amount of recipes pinned. Although, they are all organized by type of food and every time I make something, I put a little note in the comment section. For the sake of myself or anyone else who may stumble upon it.
ReplyDeleteI have a "keeper" binder too. It has grown to two now and they house recipes ripped from magazines, newspapers, internet, etc., that we really liked and make again and again.
I actually just did a post on my meal planning ritual using the binders. It's a wee bit OCD, but definitely helps with weeknight dinners and keeping grocery bills down.
That mac and cheese is making me drool and it's only 9 in the morning. :)
Thanks, Rene - my kids will be glad to see a change at the dinner table. (And so will I!)
