For so long, I have wanted a sunburst mirror to go over the sofa in our living room, but I didn't want to pay the heavy price for one. Our sofa is tucked in under the staircase and I felt like the space needed something round to break up all the angles going on here. Until I found what I wanted, I slapped rub & buff on an existing mirror, printed out some birds from Vintage Printable and called it a day. Not the greatest look, but it worked for a while.
Back to my sunburst mirror....Thank you for the inspiration a la Albert Hadley.
I did find this one last winter at Garden Ridge for around $50, but couldn't quite pull the trigger and buy it. It was super heavy and seemed like a nightmare to hang on plaster walls.

Do you shop Joss & Main? A curator's collection by my friend Courtney from the blog A Thoughtful Place is going live tomorrow so be sure to check it out.

I am on their email list but have not bought anything so far. Love the mirror.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Rene! You're right--that round shape is perfect there. I'm attempting my own sunburst mirror made out of driftwood I gathered on the New England coast...just posted about it today. Keep your fingers crossed for me, would ya? I'm hoping it's what I've been waiting for too:)
ReplyDeleteit is PERFECT! great find and deal!
ReplyDeleteI think your mirror is just gorgeous! It has a very stylized look! Thanks for reminding me about Joss!
ReplyDeleteSunbursts are my favorites…especially the little tiny ones mixed in with a grouping of paintings! The antique ones can definitely be pricey! This looks wonderful! However…I will say I really liked your first mirror with the grouping as well so don't think that didn't work either! You did great with both! I've been curious about Joss & Main…I will have to check out your fiends blog for sure! Thanks for sharing all of this!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And love that front green pillow!

Perfection, it's so unique, definitely worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic Rene....so pretty! Love your pillows too!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I am looking for a sunburst mirror for our master bedroom - so nice that yours was free too!
ReplyDeletelove the mirror. so how do you hang on your plaster walls? I've been using command hooks for just about everything and just making sure they are rated for the weight I'm going to hang. It makes me a little nervous sometimes, but I've had disastrous results with anchoring in the walls.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet comments! Darija, you are smart to use command hooks. I use nails. So far so good.
ReplyDeleteLove your new mirror! It goes great with the rest of your living room area!

ReplyDeleteCould not be more perfect!!! I am in love with round mirrors.....they just do it for me :)
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect, Rene!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so gorgeous Rene! That is one of the prettiest sunburst mirrors I've seen. It is perfect! All of your updates are beautiful--love the pillows.

Ahhh. Your patience paid off. I am envious. It's beautiful. Your styling there is just perfect. And you are so sweet to give me a J & M shout out. Thanks, friend.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new mirror! Looks so great above your sofa - and I love the pillows too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! And how awesome to have got it for free with your credit! The shape is perfect there, and those green pillows are so fresh and summery.
ReplyDeleteRene,
ReplyDeleteLove both looks! I adore all your pillows! Do you mind me asking where you found them and the nautical painting I saw in an earlier post? Thanks.
Thanks Angela. The green & white pillows came from Joss & Main and the blue velvet pillows came from Radiance From Ruins. Links to both can be found on my sidebar. The nautical painting that I believe you are referring to came from Uttermost.
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps.
René
Oops...almost forgot the green floral pillow - it came from Fabulous But Frugal. This link can also be found on my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteCan you provide the brand of the mirror? This would look great in my bedroom.
