Not so long ago, I began working on my husband's office. He wanted a wall full of family photos somewhere in the room. This is what it looked like until last week. I knew this wall would change over time - it was just a matter of finding the time to work on it.
I took all the photos down and started the process. We had lots of other photos from other places in the house to add to the collection so I knew that the wall would easily be filled in.
I've mentioned the toothpaste trick before (don't know where I first saw this), but it saved me a ton of holes in the wall. I swear by it!
A few of the photos are old colored ones that I cannot part with, but I might re-think that in time. While I love the look of all black & white, I also like color. So I'll give that some thought.
By the way, thank you so much for the great feedback about the dining room yesterday! I can't wait to finish working on those details and will be sure to keep you posted. I know how we all love to see work in progress ;).

Just the idea we are going to do with our photos and walls in two of our rooms. Love the way yours look.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great masculine look, gallery walls can be tough but you nailed it (sorry, I couldn't help it)! That pouf is the perfect unique statement! Off to work on my own wall today, I think I learned that trick from you a long time ago!
ReplyDeleteHanging that many pictures gives me hives just thinking about it! You did a great job...bring on the toothpaste!
ReplyDeleteI really, really, really love the look of black and white and colored photos on the same wall (especially if they have the cohesive element of the black frames). This gallery came out great Rene!!
ReplyDeleteI bet you love looking at these photos - I see lots of when your boys were younger. I need to start framing more of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteLove the asymmetrical look of the frames on your wall. And I like the mix of b/w and color photographs ... provides nice visual interest and if they are special to you, that's really what matters. Thanks for the toothpaste trick!

Minha vida de campo.
Your gallery wall looks fantastic Rene and I like the mix of the black and white with the color. It's so meaning to have a family wall and be surrounded by special people and special memories. I started a small one in our hallway and am slowly adding to it.
ReplyDeleteLooks great and I kinda love that some are color...not too perfect, but really beautiful! And love your lantern in the dining room!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I think it speaks well of your husband that he wants family photos in his office. I think the gallery wall looks great. Love love the toothpaste trick. I have a few holes in my walls to fill.

ReplyDeleteHi Rene--playing catch up right now with blogging as the end of summer and beginning of school has me a little crazed! This looks wonderful and is giving me so much inspiration to finally tackle our photo wall that I have been putting off for years. LOVE the toothpaste idea! I had never heard of that!
ReplyDeleteLooks so great Rene ~

ReplyDeleteGreat tip on the toothpaste! and your gallery wall looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteRene, I can't believe how adding a few more pictures can add such drama and impact. It looks amazing. In our house, the family pictures always draw the most attention from visitors. So this does a double whammy!

Looking great, Rene. Maybe you can have the color photos reprinted in b&w?
