One Room Challenge...the introduction

And so it begins...

As I mentioned Monday, I have been invited by Linda of My Crafty Home Life to participate in the infamous One Room Challenge.  Long story short...20 bloggers have 6 weeks to transform a room.  It is quite an honor to be included among this talented group.  Let's just hope that I do not disappoint.  No pressure at all, right?

And now for the room.  The 17 year old has given me liberties to do as I wish in here.  Can I get an AMEN?  As you can see, the before pictures closely resemble a squat.  Hopefully with new wall color, bedding, etc. the eye will be drawn from the cast items to the beauty of the new surroundings.  Sound good?

And just in case you are wondering where this room is heading...

It has been requested that I add dark curtains and lots of art.  Other than that, it is up to me.

I'm considering painting an existing piece with Annie Sloan chalk paint.  Never tried it, but have wanted to for a long time.  This could be the perfect opportunity.

I have lots of other ideas, but those will come in time.  Can't tell everything I know in week one now can I?

Be sure to check back each Wednesday for an update.  AND, be sure to check the links below to visit the other participants.  Fun, fun, fun...

  15. ummm you might have the coolest 17 year old EVER!!! You are beyond lucky (actually he might be luckier) that you get to go in there and revamp his bedroom. This is sure to be an awesome before and after!

  16. I can't wait to see what you do! The current room looks exactly like my husband's childhood bedroom in his parents' house that STILL has never been touched. He is 32!! Accolades to you for doing what my MIL will never do!

  22. Ooooh!!! I'm so excited that you chose your oldest son's room and that he pretty much told you to do whatever you wanted - now THAT is awesome. I loved ASCP when I used it - and it's quick which is awesome.

  24. You are a lucky woman. I have two 17 year olds that do not know about the makeovers happening next Fall when they are outta here. It must feel so good to tackle it now.

  28. Wow! I am very impressed that he gave care blanche. I have three son's and they all seemed to have an opinion about their surroundings, that is what I get for talking about design and color with them since they were young.
Love to do childrens rooms, little, teens or young adult, this will be fun to follow along with.

  30. I am so excited to see your room makeover. I have a 17 year old too and the room always seems hopeless. I never painted it just tons of sport posters everywhere and like yours tons of clothes that never make it to the drawers or closet.

  31. Haha! That completely reminds me of my room as a teenager with stuff everywhere. I now understand my mothers frustrations!!! I love your inspiration images and how they are masculine but current. So many people masculine = all wood, plaid, and lodge! I'm excited to see how it all comes together.

  32. You will have fun with this Rene! I know the outcome will be fabulous and can't wait to see what you do. You have a trusting son who knows his Mom will work her magic.
