Peel & Stick Wallpaper

If you're like me and suffer from design paralysis at home, this could be a good option to keep in mind.  I'm the worst at pulling the trigger in my own home (especially with more permanent things).  Like many blogger/decorators, I see the color/fabric trends early and become tired of them before they hit main stream. Imagine my excitement when this peel and stick wallpaper came through my instagram feed yesterday.  Have you seen it?  You can get the deets right here.

Recent Finds | Re-Fresh Your Basics

I've been itching to update some of my basics now that spring is in full swing and found some recent finds to pass along to you.  I like to keep my outfits simple and add on a colorful accessory such as a necklace or scarf.  It makes getting dressed easy and I can switch things up as the day goes.  If temperatures warm, I can easily drop the scarf and add a pretty necklace.

I would have never in a million years thought that I would like jeans from Loft.  Not that there's anything wrong with jeans from Loft, but I just never thought of them as a jean source.  Before our trip I was desperate for white jeans and had tried several other stores.  I'm happy to say the modern skinny ankle jean did it for me!

I've been searching for the perfect blazer.  Each one I tried on was either too long or too short.  This one fits just right!  I love wearing it with my white or denim jeans.  It definitely adds a bit of sophistication to my every day attire.  The added bonus is the price!

I'm not sure what I did before I found this sweatshirt.  It is perfect for those in between days when it's neither hot nor cold.  I wear it with white denim and a scarf or statement necklace.  Sometimes I layer under a pretty blouse and pull the sleeves and collar out just so.  It is super soft and has become one of my favorite basics!

I'm smitten for these eyelet shorts!  They also come in navy which I may go back for.

Gap has a great selection of bright and cheerful espadrilles.  This is perfect for me since I keep my outfits simple.  A splash of color here or there goes a long way.

I hope you are having a great week!

Spring Renewal

I'm currently craving all things fresh and lovely.  From clean closets and drawers with fragrant new liners to things I use every day.  Spring is the perfect time to re-fresh and renew and that's just what I plan to do. How about you?

Three Easy Pieces | High-Low

I saw this image on pinterest and feel in love!  It all starts with the little black dress, a classic piece if there ever was one.  Then you add the nude pumps - also classic, but with a current twist (plus this color lengthens those legs).  Last and certainly not least, the leopard bag - does leopard ever go out of style? This neutral combo is a winner every time in my opinion.  I thought it would be fun to pull together a hi-low version of this look.

Now it's your turn.  Can you tell a difference between the two?

Now Wear This

Raise your hand if you're ready for spring.  Now raise your hand if you're tired of everything in your closet. Ha!  I'm just a wee bit tired of my closet at the moment.  It is difficult to know how to dress each day.  We go from ice storms to 70 degree days within a 24 hour span where I live.  Layers seem to work the best for now, but I'm looking so forward to days when I can slip into a pretty dress and know that I can wear it all day, feeling good.  Boden is one of my favorite catalogs!  The silhouettes, fabrics, and colors are current while most pieces have a certain timelessness about them.  Know what I mean?

Here are just a few of my new favorites...

I love maxi dresses in the spring and fall, but feel a little too hot in them in the dead of summer. Would love to see this striped maxi topped by a denim jacket (like this one) on cooler days.

Ever since I saw American Hustle I've been dying to add a wrap dress to my wardrobe (although I'll definitely avoid the plunging neckline worn by Amy Adams, yikes)!  When I was a little girl, Mom wore the Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress and I always thought she looked glamorous and classic.  This silhouette flatters most body types!

Is there anything more feminine than a form fitting pencil skirt?  This one comes in several different color/fabric options including a fun stripe.

I also love an a-line skirt for adding a little curve.  It is hard to see from this image, but the embroidery detail is really quite lovely.  Also available in several colors - the pink diamond is really pretty!

Each year I look for a multi-purpose cover-up that I can also zip into the grocery store wearing (without being too revealing).  This one is perfect!

I love a light sweater in the spring.  This one has 3/4 sleeves and a pretty neckline.  A great basic for sure.

This is also a fun sweater with a little more personality.

I love to find a jersey shirt styled in a traditional woven silhouette!  It has all the comfort of a t-shirt with the structure and slight formality of a woven shirt.  Perfect for the casual spring/summer season.

Trend Alert | Sneakers

I'll admit that I am beyond excited about this sneaker trend!  Most days I reach for a girly flat or wedge, but I'm thinking my feet might thank me for adding a fun pair (or two) of sneakers into the mix.  Of course, if you are already a stylish person you were probably doing this without trying to be cool.  I've always been a fan of the classic Chucks and Tretorns.  The other evening  Mr. and I went for a walk.  As usual, I kept on the outfit I was wearing, but switched out my boots for sneakers.  I felt a little dorky putting my running shoes on with my skinny jeans, but as we walked out the door, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.  The image surprised me!  Not so dorky after all.  So now I'm thinking beyond my usual Chucks and want to delve into some more athletic options.  I really like the playful edge an athletic piece or two lends to the every day outfit while still being feminine.  How about you?

My Never Fail Decor Picks

Hi everyone!  This might be my last post for a while until I figure out the ins and outs of the new computer. The simplest things are taking hours.  But in the mean time, I'm sharing a few of my favorite décor items that never fail.  I thought you might find it helpful.

1.  Add green.  I believe that every room needs something green.  Whether it is faux or real (there are some pretty convincing "fauxs" out there) each room can benefit from a touch of green.  If fiddle head figs are too intimidating, think moss, faux succulents and boxwood orbs.  Glass containers allow you to see the most green.

2.  Frames with oversized mats.  Frames of various shapes and sizes make a great display, but I really like the visual impact of a larger mat.  They can be used to frame art or photos and work well in groupings.

3.  Chunky baskets.  Anything that serves more than one purpose is perfect in my book.  Baskets, especially the chunky ones are functional and add texture to any décor style.

4.  Linen curtains.  Window dressings can be rather costly.  Even a simple white linen curtain can add loads of warmth to a room and make a room look more finished.  They can easily be embellished with trims or fabrics or pinch pleats can be added for a more custom look.

5.  Bamboo shades.  I love the extra layer bamboo shades add to a window, especially when paired with white curtains.

6.  Herringbone rug.  This is my favorite rug!  I have used it over and over and it always works!  It is soft underfoot, adds a nice pattern without being to invasive, and the neutral color makes it versatile.

7.  Glass lamps.  I'm a fan of lamps in general and lately have fallen for the blue-green glass lamp.  It adds a nice fresh touch of color without being too bright or too specific.

8.  Trays.  Everything looks better on a tray, it's true.  I have them everywhere.  They are great for corralling items in entries, or on ottomans.  You can serve your guests using them.  Bottom line, you just can't have enough.

9.  Blue and white ginger jars.  I've picked up on some negative vibes about blue and white lately, but I have to say, this is a classic.  Yes it has come into favor lately, but blue and white has always been around I venture to guess, always will be.

Now it's your turn.  What would you add to this list?

Pamper Yourself

Few things are as luxurious as taking a nice long bath - especially in the winter.  Carving out a little time for yourself can make all the difference in how you feel and you never know; your family might thank you.  You come out feeling fresh, pampered, and relaxed.  Know what I mean?  You can keep the process as simple as you wish, but I have a few things that make the bath experience even better.

Relaxing music  The Beats Pill is an amazing little invention!  Connects wirelessly to your i-phone.  Our boys both received one for Christmas and I'm amazed by the sound quality.  Comfy slippers for after the bath - I do not have the Tory Burch slippers, but Mom does.  And I can assure you that are worth every penny.  Scrub - The Laura Mercer scrub is a favorite of mine.  It has a nice scent and leaves my skin feeling so soft!  Bubbles - I'm a big fan of the Philosphy line.  Just pour a small amount into the bath for bubbles that leave your skin feeling and smelling nice.  Hand cream - Frequent washing and winter conditions leave my hands feeling and looking rough!  L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream is one of the only hand creams that works for me.  Wine - Maybe wine ins't your thing, but whatever you enjoy, why not serve it up in a pretty glass?  Polish - Now that the sparkle and color of the holidays is behind us, I'm rediscovering my old favorites.  Essie Ballet Slipper is definitely one of them.  Soft jammies - I'm all about soft sleepwear and these are perfect!  Candle - No bath relaxing bath is complete without dimming the lights and lighting a candle.  A friend gave me a diptyque years ago and I've been hooked ever since.  They are pricey, but worth every penny.

Good Cheer | Loft

I hope ya'll have been enjoying your week of celebrating!  Just wanted to pop in to let you know about a great sale.  I received a gift card for Christmas to Loft - a store that I often forget about. Friends, how does 50% off sound?  I just went crazy with my on-line shopping cart!  Wanna see some fun little basics that can really round out your wardrobe?

It's no secret that I love a pretty white blouse.  So I was pretty tickled to find this one.

Okay, so I may overdone it with pretty white blouses, but a girl must be prepared.  This one has a timeless elegance about it that I absolutely love!  Add a pretty statement necklace, skinny jeans, and wedge boots and viola!

The cut of this jacket is very flattering for short waisted girls like myself.  The back is even more flattering. And did I mention half price?!

Cozy knits are a must!  Yep, put this one in my cart too.

Okay, so you know I like these leggings, but I'm giving these a try now.  Reviews are good & fingers are crossed that I love them.

If you pop over to Loft, be sure to use the promo code GOODCHEER for 50% off.  Happy shopping!

A Few of My Favorite Things

This year for Christmas Mr. and I got a new hot water heater, a washing machine, and a starter for the car.  Can you believe they all broke the week before Christmas?  Oh well.  As our wise teenager said, "You win some, you lose some." But a girl can dream - so how about we take a look at a few of my favorite things?

Is there anything more elegant, classic, and versatile than a pretty white blouse?  This one is on my radar.

I prefer a simple leather boot with a tall shaft.  These are one of my favorites right now.  Wish the amaretto wasn't out of stock.  I also like these for shorter legs.

I have these velvet jeans and love them!  Just a word of advice, order tall if you have longer legs.

I'm still wearing last year's faux fur vest (similar).  Love this cozy/sexy faux fur scarf.  Find a similar ones here and here.

Super soft jammie pants are always a good idea.  Love these!

A friend introduced me to these jeans and let me just say, they are amazing!

Uggs are a must for those crazy cold days when nothing else will do.  Of course these classics are always a great option.

Leggings, boots, and cozy sweaters are one of my go-to winter outfits.  These are my favorite leggings and the price is great!

Happy shopping!

"Tis the Season of Plaids

Every year about this time, I rediscover plaids.  I've always loved this classic pattern, but it seems that the holiday season just calls for a plaid here or there.  They've always been around in the form of bags, blankets, scarves, and pajamas, but I'm rather fond of the edgier plaids too in brighter colorations and sheer fabrics. What about you - are you a fan?

Half Priced Drapes

I wanted to share a great sale going on with one of my affiliates, Half Priced Drapes.  Have you heard of them?  Half Priced Drapes offers ready made and custom window treatments.  They also make their own fabric and embroidery patterns which gives their curtains a unique look.  I really like that you can specify different header styles rather than the standard rod pocket that so many ready made curtains have.

Here are a few of my favorites...

If you are looking to zush things up before the holidays, you might want to take advantage of this the sale that is going on now through November 27.  For 30% off all silk curtains, use coupon code "SILK30" and for a 20% store wide discount use coupon code "NOV20".  Happy shopping!

Uncommon Gifts From UncommonGoods

Every year, I make myself sit down and map out a plan to get ready for Christmas.  So when UncommonGoods invited me to explore their holiday gift collection, I felt like I was moving in the right direction (which is early for me).  When it comes to gift giving, I really like to personalize the gifts for each recipient.  Last night I took a little peek at UncommonGoods and found several unique goodies here that are perfect for some of the folks on my gift list.  I also found a few items to add to my own wish list.  Who knows, maybe I'll be ready early this year?
